Qualification-goals/Competencies: - Studying major groups of microorganisms, understanding of basic microbiological concepts
- Classification of microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, protozoa and fungi) based on their morphology, structure and metabolic pathways
- Studying major infectious diseases and the causative organisms
- Studying basic mechanisms of the immune response
- Acquiring basic knowledge of safety at work by handling with microorganisms
- Improving the ability of scientific documentation techniques, presentation of data and working in a team
- Basic skills to design and perform their own experiments

Notes:Prerequisites for the module: - LS1000-L1 Basic Biology Prerequisites for admission to the written examination: - succesful participation in the practical course. Module exam: - MZ3000-L1: Microbiology, portfolio assessment consisting of: 25 points for a presentation of the group project from the lab and 75 points for the written exam. The grade is calculated as follows: 50 to 54 points for a 4.0, then 55 to 59 points for a 3.7, and so on, up to 95 to 100 points for a 1.0. |
