Through their in-depth technical computer science knowledge in combination with their economic and start-up know-how, the graduates are able to perform in an industrial or scientific professional career as a computer scientist or take the role of a founder or an entrepreneurial employee. Furthermore, they have the requirements for a doctorate.
Among their qualifications and competences in the field of computer science:
- They can apply the principles of computer science in different contexts as well as assess their capabilities and limitations in these contexts.
- They can display techniques, methods and concepts of computer science, regardless of their actual current expression, transfer it into new developments and contexts and apply there.
- They can use formal methods both in concrete design, developing and verifying a computer science system as well as in an abstract context.
- They can evaluate techniques, methods and theories of computer science known to them in terms of their relevance for different application areas and particular designate or derive their limitations. Further, they are able to develop new models and concepts and thus contribute to the development of computer science.
- They know several current research topics and can represent and interpret the basic question positions and main results.
- They actively engage with the opportunities and dangers in the use of IT, form concrete opinions and can represent these discursively.
Furthermore, the graduates were provided with comprehensive interdisciplinary skills and competencies in the field of entrepreneurship:
- They can name, formulate and structure business concepts and processes.
- They are familiar with management concepts in general as well as from the sub-disciplines entrepreneurship and innovation and technology management, and are able to analyze and develop them.
- They are trained in entrepreneurship in the digital economy, innovation management, technology management, entrepreneurial behavior, entrepreneurial marketing, innovation and technology marketing, negotiation, business modelling, fundamental of finance, company culture, leadership, fundamental of human resources, sales, PR, pitching, project management, fundamentals of business ethics etc.
- They possess the scientific and theoretical as well as practical knowledge and know-how to think and act entrepreneurially, both as an entrepreneur and as intrapreneurs.
- They have implemented “lessons learned” in their own projects.
- They have mastered basic communication and negotiation techniques to successfully apply these in typical communication situations of executives and in their own negotiation. They will also learn to predict and control their own effect on others by appearance, language and behavior in talks.
- They have the ability to realize, create, analyze, evaluate and implement innovations and business ideas.
Beyond this, graduates have a number of interdisciplinary qualifications and skills:
- They can formulate, analyze, structure and formalize incomplete, contradictory and complex problems, also from new areas. From there, they can develop solutions, and assess their quality.
- They can combine their knowledge to develop and also resolve novel questions and issues.
- They have worked interdisciplinary. They can exchange with colleagues from other disciplines in discourse and are able to identify the possible contributions of computer science to these issues, in particular on issues outside of computer science.
- They can define goals for their own development, as well as reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses, plan their own development, and reflect on their social impact.
- They can do research. In particular, they are able to structure their own work following scientific methods to the highest standards of integrity of their work. They can name and assess ethical issues and rate their relevance to their own work.
- They act ethically, both in their academic work as well as in development work.
- They achieved first experience in managing teams and projects and can thus identify and apply methods and solutions to problems within teams and project work.
