Lübeck`s research strategy is based on the recommendation of the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) for the identification of scientific excellence in order to set up long-term concepts for an outstanding research profile. According to this, a focus program has to respresent a sufficient amount of contributing scientists that have been awarded a wide range of grants, especially from peer-reviewed national and international funding programs such as DFG grants (German Research Foundation), BMBF grants (Ministry of Science and Education) and grants from the European Union`s Research Framework Program (HORIZON 2020).
The university`s research profile is characterized by interdisciplinarity among Biomedicine, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering.
