Research Profile

Main Research Areas

The University of Lübeck closely follows the recommendations of the German Council of Science and Humanities in its strategic profile development.

The Council of Science and Humanities recommends in particular for university medicine for the identification of "research focuses"

  • a sufficiently critical mass of scientists
  • significant successes in extensive acquisition of collaborative funding from public funding sources (DFG alliances, EU consortia, BMBF networks / German health research centres)
  • unique selling points in terms of content in national and international comparison

The three main research areas of the University of Lübeck fulfil these performance characteristics to a suitable extent and are therefore decisive for the entire strategic orientation at the university as long-term focal point concepts.
