Health in the Team

Interprofessional Day on 4 April

As part of its medical and health sciences study programmes, the University of Lübeck’s Medicine Section is organising the special event “Health in the Team” on 4 April 2019.

Around 300 students of ergotherapy, midwifery, human medicine, logopaedics, nursing, and physiotherapy will participate in small groups in a campus rally. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the teams will go to various stations spread over the campus and complete tasks. The event will finish up in front of the Audimax at approx. 4 p.m.

Personal, interprofessional, excellent – under this motto the Medicine Section is home to five study programmes, in addition to human medicine, in the area of the healthcare professions. With programmes in ergotherapy, midwifery, logopaedics, nursing, physiotherapy, and medicine, the “Health Sciences Under One Roof” structure is unique in Germany. This constellation also opens up new possibilities for learning with and from one another. At the same time, we see the linking of the curricula with their various practical and theoretical components, the use of synergies, while also conveying specific subject identities, as a challenge.

Particular emphasis is placed on “communication”: Practising communication and cooperation while studying contributes not only to mutual respect and successful teamwork; a comprehensive, interprofessional view of patients also facilitates the development of integrated, effective ideas for treatment. These factors contribute significantly to general patient satisfaction and quality assurance in the area of healthcare. In this way, today’s interprofessional university teaching helps to guarantee high-quality healthcare for the future.
