Research Award for Dr. Christian Heeger for Work on Heart Rhythm Disorders

Dr. med. Christian-H. Heeger, from the Lübeck University Heart Centre, won the “EHRA Best Graded Abstract Award 2019”.

He received the award from the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) at its 2019 Congress in Lisbon on 18 March for his research on “Phrenic Nerve Injury During Pulmonary Vein Isolation Using the Second-Generation Cryoballoon: Characteristics and Follow-up – First Results of the YETI registry”.

Dr. Heeger is a senior doctor at the University Heart Centre of the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck (Medical Clinic II, Director: Univ. Prof. Dr. H. Langer; Electrophysiology Section, Section Head Prof. Dr. med. univ. Roland R. Tilz). He specialises in the invasive treatment of heart rhythm disorders.

Cryoballoon ablation is an established therapy procedure in electrophysiology. The Electrophysiology Section in Lübeck is one of the world’s first centres to use the fourth generation of this system.
