Öffentlicher Vortrag im Rahmen der Distinguished Lecture Series am Donnerstag, den 16. Oktober von 16:00 bis 18:00 Uhr (Raum Levi-Montalcini B1/2 im EG des CBBM)
The sex binary is a taken-for-granted starting point that biases the scientific exploration of the relations between sex and brain and behavior. In the brain, data from animal studies challenge the binary framework and open a new way—the mosaic hypothesis—of thinking about ‘sex itself’ and its relations with brain and behavior. Most brains comprise unique ‘mosaics’ of features common in both women and men, indicating that sex category contributes little to understanding human brain structure.
