Research Profile

The definition of the research areas of the university was based on the recommendations of the German Council for Science and Humanities. The Council defines a research area as a thematic platform for a large number of researchers with scientific excellence and extensive acquisition of collaborative funding through DFG, BMBF or EU.
Accordingly, the University of Lübeck has appointed three established research areas as its main research areas, which also characterize its interdisciplinarity. Their working groups conduct joint research on topics at the interfaces between medicine, computer science, life sciences and technology. In addition, four additional fields of competence are combined into additional research areas.
